FBI Warns of New Phone Scheme
The FBI's Newark office recently warned of a new scheme, telephony denial-of-service (TDOS). In an effort to create a distraction or interfere with incoming calls, attackers are bombarding businesses with thousands of calls in a short period of time. Calls that are answered provide anything from dead air to recorded messages, advertisements, or even menu options for explicit services. This specific threat warning concerns your personal finances, as well, but there are certainly many other types of fraud that can affect your company.
According to the Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA), fraud losses around the world cost up to $80 billion in 2009.
