Oct 14, 2003 - PAETEC Named Second Fastest Growing Tech Company
(Print-friendly PDF file)
Fairport, NY, October 14, 2003/Businesswire/ -- PAETEC Corp., a holding company whose principal subsidiary is PAETEC Communications, Inc., an integrated communications provider, today announced that it ranks Number Two on the 2003 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America. Rankings are based on average percentage revenue growth over five years, from 1998 - 2002. PAETEC grew 192,701 percent during this period.

"Achieving sustained revenue growth of 192,701 percent over five years is a tremendous accomplishment during a difficult period for the technology sector," said Mark A. Evans, national managing partner of Deloitte's Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group. "PAETEC's substantial growth puts it in select company."

PAETEC's chairman of the board and CEO, Arunas A. Chesonis, credits the dedication of PAETEC employees and their passion for quality with the company's remarkable revenue growth over the past five years. Chesonis said, "PAETEC's culture of service excellence is the cornerstone of our success. Our employees are fueled by their passion to deliver unparalleled care to our customers, resulting in a 99.5 percent customer retention rate and revenue growth of 192,701 percent over the last five years. Our unwavering commitment to our customers and our solid financial performance demonstrates our ability to successfully execute our business strategies. We are honored by this recognition and are delighted to be included in the company of such former Fast 500 winners as eBay and Yahoo!, Inc."

Evans added, "Attracting enough customers to maintain this growth rate over five years makes a strong statement about the quality of a company's product and its leadership. PAETEC has shown the right stuff for growth."

PAETEC previously ranked third on the Rising Stars list for 2001, a special designation for 25 companies that have been in business less than five years, but at least three years.

Overall, companies that ranked on the 2003 Technology Fast 500 had growth rates ranging from 469 to 296,080 percent over five years, with an average growth rate of 5,493 percent. PAETEC's revenues grew from $150,000 in 1998 to $289,202,000 in 2002, reflecting a revenue growth rate over five years of 192,701 percent.

The Fast 500 list is compiled from Deloitte's 20 regional North American Fast 50 programs, nominations submitted directly to the Fast 500, and public company database research. To qualify for the Fast 500, entrants must have had 1998 operating revenues of at least $50,000 USD and $75,000 CD for the United States and Canada, respectively; and 2003 operating revenues must be at least $1 million USD or CD.

Entrants must also be public or private companies headquartered in North America and must be a "technology company," defined as a company that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the companies' technology in a unique way does not quality.

Mar 20, 2003 - PAETEC Launches International Toll-Free Service
(Print-friendly PDF file)
Fairport, NY, March 20, 2003/Businesswire/--PAETEC Corp., a holding company whose principal subsidiary is PAETEC Communications, Inc., an integrated communications provider, today announced that it has enhanced its existing domestic toll-free service with the introduction of international toll-free service (ITFS). This service will enable PAETEC customers who solicit business internationally to extend their reach into foreign countries while dramatically reducing their costs to market their specific products and services.

ITFS allows end-users in foreign countries to dial a toll-free number and have that call terminate within the United States. Similar to domestic toll-free service, several features are available with ITFS including time of day routing, customized digit routing, account and authorization codes, and call forwarding.

PAETEC has recently added this service to its product portfolio as a result of increased customer demand. PAETEC's customers, especially vendors with an international presence, as well as those within the manufacturing, finance and government sectors that have multiple branch offices, will benefit from the additional functionality integrated into their existing suite of services.

According to John Chapman, PAETEC's vice president of marketing, "We are constantly improving and implementing our product offerings in order to assist our customers in more effectively managing their business operations. Not only will this service provide our customers with greater operational efficiencies, but it will help them minimize their costs as well."

Mar 13, 2003 - VeriSign Do-Not-Call Service Selected By PAETEC Communications
(Print-friendly PDF file)
VeriSign deploys TeleBlock (registered trademark) a patented Call Compliance technology, on its nationwide network to give carriers cost-efficient, automated call blocking service for telemarketing centers.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA. March 13, 2003 - VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRSN), the leading provider of digital trust services, announced today that PAETEC Communications, Inc., an integrated communications provider serving businesses in 27 markets nationwide, is implementing its Do-Not-Call service as a more cost-effective means of helping clients comply with telemarketing regulations. VeriSign's TeleBlock (a registered trademark) Do-Not-Call service combines patented technology from Call Compliance, Inc. with VeriSign's trusted intelligent network infrastructure. This technology provides telecom carriers with an up-to-date, centralized source of the data in every available state, proprietary and third party "do-not-call" list, plus a technology solution for automated call blocking to telephone numbers in those databases.

VeriSign's TeleBlock Do-Not-Call service keeps auto-dialed calls to restricted voice and fax numbers from being connected. Telemarketing companies are thus better able to comply with state and federal laws and avoid fines and penalties levied by states and the federal government for incidents of non-compliance with consumer demands to block unsolicited marketing calls by placing their names on do-not-call lists.

"VeriSign is committed to providing ongoing leadership in the industry through innovation in outsourced services for communications providers of all types," said Terry Kremian, Executive Vice President and General Manager of VeriSign Telecommunication Services. "People are looking for more control over their communication services today, and our Do-Not-Call service is an example of how we assist carriers in maintaining call centers as clients while protecting the rights and privacy of consumers in a very technologically efficient, and cost-effective manner."

By hosting the TeleBlock solution on VeriSign's nationwide SS7 network infrastructure, the Do-Not-Call service is quick to implement and offers broad geographic scalability with no additional hardware or software required at the telemarketing center location, or in most cases, by the serving carrier.

As the first CLEC to be IS0 9002 certified, PAETEC Communications is committed to exceeding its customers' expectations, according to John Chapman, PAETEC's Vice President of Marketing. PAETEC continues to offer innovative products that are tailored to assist its customers in performing critical business operations, achieving significant cost containment strategies and superior results in service and flexibility, he said.

"We are very excited about offering VeriSign's TeleBlock Do-Not-Call service to our customers as well as working with VeriSign to effectively deliver this service," said Chapman. "Increasing feature functionality for call center operations is a tremendous value-added service that complements our integrated service offering. Most importantly, our customers who have call center operations will benefit greatly from the ability to maximize their outbound call activities in a cost effective manner."

"The urgent need for TeleBlock across the teleservice spectrum is increasing on almost a daily basis," said Alison Garfinkel, president of Call Compliance. "Teleservice professionals inundated with all of today's compliance requirements are turning to technology for answers -- TeleBlock provides them."

Consumers who want more information about placing their names on do-not-call lists are encouraged to contact their state attorney general's office or a local consumer protection agency.

(Print-friendly PDF file)
Integrated Communications Provider Changing the Winds of Telecom
Fairport, NY, February 18, 2003/Businesswire/--PAETEC Corp., a holding company whose principal subsidiary is PAETEC Communications, Inc., an integrated communications provider, today announced that as of the fourth quarter of 2002, it has achieved positive net income and free cash flow. This is a remarkable achievement for a facilities based, competitive telecommunications company formed after the Telecommunications Act of 1996, especially one that has not undergone a financial restructuring to post such a profit.

PAETEC posted earnings of 2.5 cents per share for the fourth quarter, which was approximately 2% of revenues for the quarter. Revenue for the quarter grew 7% to just over $78 million. Revenues for the year exceeded $289 million.

"This is a monumental validation of our business plan," said Arunas A. Chesonis, PAETEC's chairman of the board and chief executive officer. "Being able to generate net income against a volatile telecom backdrop clearly demonstrates PAETEC's ability to successfully execute our business strategies and reinforces the tremendous value proposition we offer our customers."

PAETEC's announcement comes at a pivotal time for the Telecommunications Industry as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering rule changes for the Telecom Act of 1996 suggesting that there may be fundamental flaws with the Act. PAETEC's proven model should give the FCC and other legislative skeptics additional material to consider during their continued review of the Act.

"PAETEC's success can be attributed to the dedication, drive and entrepreneurial spirit maintained by our employees," commented Chesonis. "Our organizational passion for quality and our culture of ownership continue to distinguish us as the most customer and employee oriented telecom services provider in the country. We will seek to keep growing profitably while remaining focused on strengthening our customer relationships through exceptional service."

Based in Fairport, NY, PAETEC Communications, Inc. is an integrated communications provider offering broadband services, including advanced voice and video, enhanced data, and communications management services to medium-sized and large businesses, colleges and universities, hospitals, hotels, governmental organizations and affinity groups.
