Secure Remote Access utilizes SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology as a means to connect remote users to your company's MPLS VPN network. SSL terminates to a concentrator on the Windstream network, through a secure, encrypted tunnel across the Internet.
The advantage of SSL VPNs over other popular VPN connections is you can connect to your company's network using a Web browser versus relying on a Network Administrator to install and configure a software client to originate the secure tunnel. This capability helps make SSL VPN inherently and relatively operating system/platform agnostic. Windstream SSL also permits Network Administrators to implement NACs (Network Access Controls) to validate a number of security prerequisites prior to granting access.
SSL concentrators reside in the cloud and are geographically redundant, assuring maximum availability for remote users. Our solution does not rely on equipment at your premises, so remote users can connect at any time, from anywhere with an Internet connection - even if one or more office on your MPLS VPN network is down.
